By subjecting members to a stringent vetting process, this scheme can help consumers locate double glazing companies which they can rely on. However, it’s important for customers looking for authentic sash windows to realise that, contrary to media reports, an established scheme already exists which offers guarantees comparable to those delivered by the DGCOS.

Known as the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF), this organisation has refined its sterling pedigree over the past 30 years, and commands the respect of consumers and tradesmen alike in a way that the infant DGCOS scheme, with its current 36 founding members, simply cannot imitate.
Unfortunately, while the GGF has been busy vetting companies and insuring customer deposits, it’s been largely overlooked by the media as the precious consumer resource that it is, due to a lack of awareness.
Nevertheless, a level of widespread recognition was achieved recently with the revelation of Mr Sean Marten’s story on the BBC’s breakfast news. After ordering Bygone Windows through a fitting company, Mr Marten was dismayed to find cheap, low grade windows fitted to his property instead.
Tellingly it was our team here at Bygone, a GGF company, who stepped in to inspect the phoney windows, track down the offending company, disprove its accreditations, and help legally support Mr Marten’s case.
