Manufacturing Standards
All Bygone Collection PVCu Sash Windows are manufactured in a state of the art factory to exacting standards to your bespoke requirements. Independently vetted by the British Board of Agreement to guarantee our claims of longevity, (20,000 opening cycles to simulate 20 years endurance testing, on the complete window, including balances, hardware and plant on Georgian bars).
Organic Stabilised PVCu
PVCu is a less harmful plastic. Firstly about half of it is salt a natural substance, fossil based oils are being replaced by organic oils, lead based stabalisers replaced by organic ones, and with our off cuts from the factory being recycled PVCu is being accepted as a reusable material time and time again, meaning it should avoid landfill completely.
“Timber” foiled finish
For years, the only option was shiny white plastic. Clean and smooth it often became grubby and lacked any “texture”. That’s a thing of the past, all bygone sash windows come with a laminated acrylic foil that recreates the grained texture of a timber window, just without the need to repaint it!
Glass & Glazing
Most PVCu manufacturers insist on “fat” units, typically they were 4/16/4 even 4/20/4mm because air sealed units work best with a large air gap between the two panes of glass. The problem is the space left for the Georgian bars, meant they were very thin.
Today, standard on the bygone window, are gas filled units, these work best with smaller gaps between the panes of glass, just 4/8/4mm leaving room for a more authentic internal Georgian bar and bead. Manufactured to EN1279 they carry a 5 year guarantee. The glazing shall be 4mm Low Iron: 16mm Argon gas, Thermix spacer bars: 4mm Soft coat Low E en.040.
Beading
Internally beaded to maximize security in Bygone Collection PVC-U Sash Windows offer a ‘puttyline’ effect to the exterior and the new, authentic, deeper ovolo shaped bar to the inside face of the window.
