Enhance the Natural Appeal of Your Home with Sash Windows

Thursday, March 01st , 2012

Effective at keeping out cold draughts in the midst of winter, the BFRC ‘A’ rated sash windows supplied by the team at Bygone are very popular with homeowners for their ‘green’ attributes and their visual aesthetics; with good reason. The Bygone Collection encompasses beautifully crafted windows that are sympathetic to the traditional Georgian style that many homeowners find appealing, but to give you an insight into the various characteristics which make up our sash windows, read on as we discuss them in further detail below.

Paint & Stain Finishes

The finished look of our high-quality sash windows can be tailored to suit the exterior of your home, with almost any paint or stain available for you to choose from. We realise that the style of your windows can have a huge impact on the finished appearance of your home, which is why you can come and chat to us. We will help you to identify what colours are available and what we think would complement the external features of your property; whether it be a new build, a restoration project or a period property.

Frame Detailing & Additional Features

In keeping with the Georgian style, our sash windows have beading detail internally and externally; a feature that can extend the visual aesthetics of these windows. These meticulously carved features are available in the 156mm timber-tilt frame front to back and the 164 weight version.

To complement this unique design feature, you can also opt to have branded locking cam catches, which are available in antique brass effect, pewter or chrome. The scroll handles are a cute little feature that can have a dramatic impact on the internal style of a room.

Timber Preservations

While appearance is important; we at Bygone believe that quality should not be compromised in favour of aesthetics, which is why our stunning sash windows have been treated. Our sash windows are all treated with Boron wood preservative, and with a 30 year guarantee against rot and fungal attack, you can feel confident that the windows you decided to invest in are of the highest-quality.
