Sash Windows: Prepare For Winter and Save Money

Monday, October 15th , 2012

As the winter months are drawing closer, we’re all a little apprehensive about the significant impact that the coming months will have on our finances. Christmas is anything but the cheapest holiday of the year and the cold weather means that our central heating system will be kicked into life once again. Here at Bygone Windows we’re experts in sash windows and we understand how difficult the winter months can be financially; unfortunately, Christmas will always be an expensive time of year but your energy bills don’t have to be sky high.

Can You Feel A Draft?

You may not notice it during the summer months but as soon as the weather gets colder, you’ll be all too aware that your windows are perhaps not what they once were.

If your windows are letting in a draft then they’re letting out heat at the same time and that means that you’ll need to put your heating on at a higher temperature or for a longer period of time to maintain a comfortable temperature. Did you know that 20% of heat loss in an average home is through the windows?

Of course, all this means that your energy bills will be creeping up higher and higher and you could get a nasty surprise when the next bill arrives.

Bygone: Recommended By the Energy Savings Trust

We mustn’t forget that when you invest in quality windows, you won’t just be saving money on your energy bills, you’ll be doing your bit for the environment at the same time. Here at Bygone we’re proud to say that our windows have obtained a certification from the Energy Savings Trust and that all of our sash windows come with a Window Energy Rating of A.

Look at your windows; are they letting heat out of your home and as a result, increasing your energy bills and having a negative impact on your environment? If they are, here at Bygone we should be your first port of call.
